DIWY 4

Do It Without You returns to Folklore with aimei 媚, Beattie, Tough Cookie & Coco and the Lost on Monday 27 November 2023 for a night of new music.

Coco and the Lost’s new EP ‘Moonbird’ presents an engaging, immersive experience of a relationship that never had the chance to blossom to its full potential. The Brighton-based musician unites an unlikely array of influences, at times feeling like a kindred spirit to Kate Bush’s larger-than-life flamboyance or the eviscerating honesty of Mitski, but also with a nod to Pulp’s dry, conversational humour or the raw, restless intensity of Wolf Alice.

Tough Cookie are a four-piece alternative band based in Dalston, London, UK. Introverted yet vibrant, the band draw their inspiration from an encyclopedic range of indie/alternative music and art. Tough Cookie combines the dynamic arrangements of heroes like Pavement, Radiohead and Pixies, with the earnest songwriting touch of Elliott Smith and artistic ambition of Patti Smith.

Chinese-British artist aimei 媚 burst on the scene in compelling fashion this September with 'V&V',  a razor sharp pop noir track showcasing stunning vocals, intricate production and heart on sleeve songwriting. A pristine cut hinting at elite potential, the track picked up a raft of blog coverage, including plaudits by The Line Of Best Fit, who praised aimei 媚's lyrical reliability and likened her to Maisie Peters. With her debut track landing on Spotify's Fresh Finds Pop playlist, the next few months looks to be an exciting one for this newcomer.
